HASH HOUSE HARRIERS (1938) KUALA LUMPUR
The Original Hash House Harriers — Kuala Lumpur, since 1938
Hashing began right here in Kuala Lumpur in 1938, when a small group of friends started following paper trails through the countryside after work. From those early runs grew the worldwide Hash House Harriers movement, now spanning around 1,200 kennels across the globe. Mother Hash is where it all began.
Today, we continue that tradition with weekly trails through the jungles, hills and countryside around Kuala Lumpur — combining running, camaraderie, good humour and the traditional post-run Circle.
Visiting Mother Hash
Male visitors are most welcome to join our runs. Mother Hash is a male-only Hash chapter.
Runs normally start at 6:00pm and our run sites are typically within about an hour's drive of central Kuala Lumpur.
Guest fees: RM50 for a normal run · RM80 for a gazetted run.
What to Bring
Come prepared for proper Hash terrain:
Trail running shoes with good grip
Headlamp or torch — we finish after dark
Water bottle or hydration belt
Zip-lock bag to keep your phone dry
Fresh clothes and a towel for after the run
Each run listing includes Google Maps and Waze directions. Because our run sites are often off the main road, we recommend checking both before setting off.
Visiting from overseas? Contact one of our Committee members and we'll do our best to help arrange a lift from Kuala Lumpur.
Come and run with the original. On-On!
